OBE AI

OBE AI helps sellers prepare clearer listings and helps buyers organize their diligence — working only from the information the user supplies. Every AI output is a draft or an organizational aid. It is labelled as AI-generated, it is checked by a person, and for sellers, nothing AI-written publishes without the seller’s approval of the exact text.

At launch, OBE AI is shown through the labelled demonstrations on this page and used by our team during manual founding-seller onboarding. It is not yet a live self-serve tool, and this page will say so plainly until the day it is.

Availability key

  • AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — performed during manual onboarding/review by the OBE team with AI assistance; output is a draft for the user’s approval.
  • PLANNED — in design; not available at launch in any form; listed so users can see the direction, not as a promise or a date.

What OBE AI will never do

  • AI content is labelled as AI-generated wherever it appears.
  • Sellers approve AI-generated listing text before publication — approval of the exact version, recorded. No approval, no publication.
  • OBE AI does not certify financials. An AI draft never raises a figure’s evidence tier: Seller-stated stays Seller-stated until the seller supplies documentation or a source is connected (see the Listing and Evidence Policy).
  • OBE AI does not guarantee valuations, appraise businesses, or provide a fair-market-value opinion.
  • OBE AI does not promise investment outcomes, returns, payback periods, or a probability that a business will sell or perform.
  • OBE AI does not invent figures. Missing information is reported as “Not disclosed / Not supplied” — never estimated, averaged, or filled in.
  • OBE AI output is not investment, legal, accounting, tax, or valuation advice. Use your own qualified advisors for your transaction.

OBE AI analysis is generated from seller-reported and supplied information shown with the listing or demonstration. It is educational and organizational only, is not investment, legal, accounting, tax, or valuation advice, and does not verify that a business will perform as described. Buyers must complete independent due diligence with their own qualified advisors.

Seller tools

For sellers, OBE AI works on your own supplied information and returns drafts and checklists. You stay the author of record: every number remains yours, labelled with its evidence tier, and you approve the final listing text.

ToolWhat it doesAvailability
Listing drafting assistanceTurns your structured application answers into a clear listing draft — description, what’s included, and operating summary — preserving every figure exactly as you supplied it, with its period and evidence label attached.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — during manual founding onboarding; draft only; seller approval required before publication.
Description improvementSuggests clearer wording, structure, and ordering for a description you wrote. Suggestions are shown as edits you can accept or reject; your figures and claims are never strengthened, rounded up, or re-characterized by the AI.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — during manual onboarding; suggestions only.
Missing-information identificationCompares your submission against the checklist for your category and lists each missing item specifically — for example, the period for a revenue figure, the basis for a profit figure (profit or SDE), included assets, transfer requirements, or owner workload — so buyers don’t have to discover the gaps.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — as a checklist returned to the seller during review.
Completeness checksFlags internal inconsistencies as questions, not accusations — for example, monthly revenue that doesn’t reconcile with a stated annual figure, or a profit figure whose period differs from the revenue figure’s period. A flag means ‘please clarify the source’, never a finding of dishonesty.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — as part of manual moderation; a person makes every publication decision.
Suggested buyer FAQ responsesDrafts answers to common buyer questions (transfer steps, handover support, what’s included) from your approved listing and your supplied answers only. Drafts introduce no new facts, no price flexibility, and no commitments — you review and send any response yourself.PLANNED — not offered at launch; founding sellers answer enquiries directly, with templates from the approved listing only.

Using OBE AI is optional. A seller who declines AI assistance gets the same manual review and the same evidence labels. Declining never affects eligibility, placement, or price.

Buyer tools

For buyers, OBE AI organizes what a listing discloses — and, just as importantly, what it doesn’t. It never recommends a purchase.

ToolWhat it doesAvailability
Listing summariesRestates a listing’s disclosed facts in a compact, source-labelled table: asking price, revenue and profit with currency, period, basis, and evidence tier, plus business age, monetization, and owner workload. Missing fields appear as ‘Not disclosed’.PLANNED — at launch, the listing card and detail page already present these fields in labelled form; an AI-generated summary layer is not live.
Comparison assistancePlaces two or more listings’ disclosed fields side by side so differences — and missing fields — are visible at a glance. Comparison shows inputs only; it does not score, rank by quality, or recommend.PLANNED — no comparison tool at launch; do not render a compare control on cards.
Due-diligence question generationGenerates a question list tailored to a listing’s category and its specific gaps — the records to request, the claims to test from primary sources, and the transfer questions to ask — for the buyer to use with the seller and their own advisors.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — as the labelled demonstration below and as a published checklist; a per-listing generated list is provided by the OBE team on request during the founding period, not by a self-serve generator.
Financial terminology explanationsExplains terms used in listings — SDE, net profit, multiple, churn, MRR, trailing twelve months, asset sale vs. share sale — in plain language, with the listing’s own stated basis identified.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — as static educational content (glossary on this page / in the guides); not a chatbot.
Valuation EDUCATIONExplains how valuation is generally discussed for small online businesses — earnings × a multiple, what moves a multiple up or down, and why published ranges from named sources disagree — as general education with sources cited. It does not value any specific business, including yours or one you’re viewing.AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH — as educational content only.
Missing-evidence identificationLists, for a specific listing, which figures are Seller-stated, which have documentation supplied, which are Data-connected (with source and period), and which standard diligence items have not been supplied at all — so a buyer knows what to ask for first.PLANNED — at launch this information is readable directly from the per-figure labels on the listing; an automated per-listing evidence report is not live.

OBE AI will never call a business a “best investment”, “undervalued”, or a “recommended buy”, and it will never predict a return. If any future OBE surface appears to do so, the Listing and Evidence Policy and the guardrails on this page govern — report it to info@onlinebusinessexchange.com.

Demonstration — Seller Listing Drafting

Demonstration — illustrative only. The business below is fictional and is not for sale. This demonstration shows the format of an AI-assisted draft from seller-supplied inputs. It is excluded from listings, counts, search, and all marketplace claims.

Demo input

  • Business: “Fern & Filter” — a fictional content website publishing coffee-brewing guides.
  • Category: Content websites & blogs. Founded: 2022.
  • Monetization: Affiliate revenue; display advertising.
  • Revenue (seller-stated): USD 3,100/month average, trailing 12 months ending October 2026.
  • Profit (seller-stated, basis: SDE): USD 2,200/month average, same period.
  • Owner workload (seller-stated): ~6 hours/week.
  • Asking price: USD 78,000.
  • Included: domain, website and content archive, affiliate accounts transferable per program terms, email list (4,800 subscribers, platform export).
  • Evidence position: all figures Seller-stated; no documents supplied yet; no data connection.

AI-assisted draft — NOT APPROVED — seller approval required before any use

Fern & Filter — Content website & blogs (fictional demonstration business)

Fern & Filter publishes coffee-brewing guides and equipment comparisons, monetized through affiliate revenue and display advertising.

  • Asking price: USD 78,000 (seller-stated)
  • Revenue: USD 3,100/month average — trailing 12 months ending October 2026 — Seller-stated (provided by the seller, not independently verified)
  • Profit (SDE): USD 2,200/month average — same period — Seller-stated
  • Business age: founded 2022 (seller-stated) · Owner workload: ~6 hrs/week (seller-stated)
  • Included: domain, website and content archive, transferable affiliate accounts, email list (4,800 subscribers, seller-stated)

Completeness check returned to the seller with this draft:

  1. Traffic: monthly visitors and primary source not supplied — shown as “Not disclosed” until provided.
  2. Expenses: the SDE figure is stated without an expense breakdown — buyers will ask; consider supplying one.
  3. Evidence: all figures are Seller-stated. Supplying a platform report would move those figures to “Evidence supplied” (documentation provided — receipt is not review or verification). Connecting analytics would be required before any figure could be labelled “Data-connected”.
  4. Transfer: affiliate-account transferability is stated as “per program terms” — name the programs whose terms permit transfer.

What this demonstration proves — and what it doesn’t: the draft preserves the seller’s figures exactly, attaches the correct label, period, and basis to each, and lists gaps instead of filling them. It does not verify Fern & Filter (which does not exist), does not value it, and would publish nothing: a real seller would receive this as a draft and approve, edit, or reject the exact text first.

Demonstration — Buyer Due-Diligence Questions

Demonstration — illustrative only. The listing below is fictional and is not for sale. Questions are generated from the fictional listing’s disclosed fields and gaps. They are a starting checklist, not advice about any real business.

Demo input

  • “Fern & Filter” (fictional) — asking price USD 78,000; revenue USD 3,100/month (Seller-stated, TTM to Oct 2026); profit USD 2,200/month SDE (Seller-stated); traffic: Not disclosed; expenses breakdown: Not disclosed; email list 4,800 (Seller-stated); affiliate accounts “transferable per program terms” (unspecified).

Suggested diligence questions — generated from the fields and gaps above

Financial verification

  1. Can the seller provide affiliate-network and ad-network payout reports for the same trailing-12-month period, so stated revenue can be reconciled to payouts?
  2. What expenses are included in the stated SDE, and which owner add-backs were made? Can each add-back be itemized?
  3. Are there months in the period with one-off revenue (a viral post, a seasonal spike) that a buyer should normalize?

Traffic and revenue concentration

  1. Traffic is “Not disclosed”: what are monthly sessions by source for the last 12 months, and what share comes from the single largest source?
  2. What share of affiliate revenue comes from the top program, and from the top three articles?

Transfer and operations

  1. Which affiliate programs’ terms permit account transfer, and which would require the buyer to re-apply?
  2. How is the email list held, and does its platform permit transfer of the list to a buyer with subscriber consent intact?
  3. What does the owner’s ~6 hours/week actually consist of, and what breaks first if it stops?

Evidence upgrades to request

  1. Will the seller supply the payout reports (moving revenue to “Evidence supplied”) or provide read-only analytics access for a defined period (the basis for a “Data-connected” label on that metric)?

Every question traces to a disclosed field or a labelled gap in the fictional listing — that traceability is the feature. The list makes no claim about whether Fern & Filter is fairly priced, and OBE AI will not answer that question for any real listing either. Valuation is the buyer’s work, with their own advisors; OBE AI’s job is to make sure the right questions get asked.

Glossary

  • SDE (Seller’s Discretionary Earnings): profit plus the owner’s compensation and certain owner-specific expenses added back — the common earnings basis for small, owner-operated businesses. Always ask what was added back.
  • Net profit: revenue minus all expenses as recorded, without owner add-backs. Not interchangeable with SDE.
  • Multiple: asking price divided by an earnings figure (e.g., price ÷ annual SDE). Meaningful only with the basis and period stated.
  • Trailing twelve months (TTM): the most recent 12-month period, stated with its end date.
  • Asset sale vs. share sale: an asset sale transfers the business’s assets; a share sale transfers the company’s shares (and its history and liabilities). The structure changes the legal and tax analysis — get professional advice.
  • MRR / churn (SaaS): monthly recurring revenue, and the rate at which subscribers cancel. Both are seller-stated unless labelled otherwise.
